Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 6 wickets. The score made by LSG team was 155 runs for the loss of 4 wickets and the DC team managed to make 149 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.

DC team was stifled by the LSG spinners with the death bowlers maintaining the chokehold. They managed to restrict them to the 3rd ever lowest score in 20 overs.

LSG managed o finish the chase in the last over. This was in spite of 80 runs off 52 balls from Quinton de Kock.

Among the batters of the DC team, Rishabh Pant and David Warner were unable to manage even one run a ball between them. Avesh Khan finished with a mere 19 runs in the final 3 over’s.

The LSG spinners bowled 10 over’s between them for 57 runs and managed to take all the 3 wickets.

Warner welcomed by Shaw

Shaw ensured Warner felt at home. The bowlers of the LSG team made an effort to bowl some hard lengths at Shaw, but were not able to. In the powerplay, he, alone, scored 47 runs.

Shaw was aggressive against the spinners. He went over the cover easily and also punished any error in length. He stepped out to Gowtham in the 8th over.

Choke on after Shaw gone

Rovman Powell was promoted to no. 3 by the DC team. He was exposed to spin on a surface with ‘grip’.

Gowtham and Boshnoi managed to suck the life out of the ‘innings’. Warner tried cutting a wide ball that kept away from him. He managed just a top edge. This was the 3rd time he got out to Bishnoi in only 6 balls. Powell was desperate and tried going for the slog. This was an error and it got a stump.

The struggle of Pant was stark. From the first 19 balls, he managed only 8 runs. He broke free only in the 15th over.

De kock and the chase

Though the DC team had an ‘attack’ to fight with Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, the wet ball managed to tip in favor of the LSG team.

Bowling did not work well for Anrich Nortje, who was bowling for a first time in India in an IPL match. The 5th over was all of half-volleys. This offered an opportunity to de Kock who took full advantage and managed 3 fours and a six.

Badoni, Krunal calming nerves

The 14 balls bowled by Shardul Thakur and Mustafizur were sans any boundaries. This was nerve wrecking for the LSG team. The asking was 17 runs off 10 balls. Deepak and Krunal tried with all their might to find any boundary, but the ‘defensive’ bowling was of top class. Finally, Krunal managed to pick a slower ball, lofted this back over the head of Mustafizur. After which, he picked 3 straight braces and left only 5 to get in the final over.

Ayush Badoni came out and managed a boundary and the requirement was now 5 off 4.
