The unbeaten partnership between Ruturaj Gaikwad and Kartik Sharma sealed the game comfortably for Chennai. Gaikwad remained unbeaten on 67 from 48 deliveries, registering his second consecutive half-century, while Kartik Sharma impressed with a mature 54* off 40 balls — his maiden IPL fifty. The duo ensured there were no late hiccups as CSK reached 160/2 in just 18.1 overs.
Mumbai’s bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah and the debutant impact player Raghu Sharma, tried to create pressure, but the total proved insufficient against Chennai’s controlled batting display. Hardik Pandya’s side looked short on confidence and consistency once again, raising serious concerns about their playoff chances.
