IPL 2022 on 29th March 2022 :

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals(RR) defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 61 runs.

In the opening match at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) nothing was right. According to Tom Moody, who is their head coach, the 4 ‘no-balls’ in the first 5 over’s was the culprit.

In the match’s opening over they had to face the first ‘no-balls’. Joe Buttler nicked one at first slip to Abdul Samad on Bhuvaneshwar’s ball. The replays showed that he over-stepped. Buttler scored 35 runs off 28.

In the 3rd over of the inning, Bhuvaneshwar managed to bowl another ‘no-ball’ and to make things worse, the free-hit was hit for a 4 by Yashnavi Jaiswal.

Umran Malik, from the other end, managed to find outside edge of Buttler.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) is the first team of the IPL2022 to defend a total in a grand manner. The batter, which included Sanju Samson, their captain, managed to score almost 150 runs only in boundaries.

The bowling surface provided the needed assistance with a low margin of error. The SRH team made plenty of errors and paid a heavy price for the same. The batting line-up of the RR team does not need second invitations.

Sunrisers overstep

In the first over you found Buttler fumbling in the dark and these conditions seem to be ‘tailor-made’ for Bhuvaneshwar. The wide in swinger that followed the 3 out swingers, set him up for the 5th out swinger.

Buttler tried playing for the in swinger and edged this for a superb catch by Samad.

Samson Check in

Samson starts off well when the pitch is fresh, new and quick. There was no exception here. He managed to use the pace of the fast bowler and pulled spinners effortlessly for sixes. 5 of his ‘hits’ managed to clear the boundary.

The SRH team looked light in the middle over’s due to Rashid Khan’s absence. In their 4 over’s the spinners went for 62.

Finishing Touch by Hetmeyer

The RR team was on their way to a total considered ‘challenging’ when Samson got out at 163. This was in the 16.1 over. The power hitting of Hetmeyer is what made all the difference. He unleashed an incredible 6 when Bhuvaneshwar pitched short. The RR team seems to be sounding a warning to the other teams in the near future.

Chahal Joining the party

Chahal managed to squeeze out whatever was left of the contest. The batters went after Chahal as R.Ashwin offered no hits. Chahal, on the other hand, proved to be wily for the batters. Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma and Romario Shepherd fell to him when trying to hit the ‘big’ shot. They were given no pace to work with by Chahal.

The net ‘run-rate’ damage was controlled to a certain extent by the partnership of 55 runs by Washington and Markram but this did not help in any way and they lost by 61 runs. The SRH team was fined for a ‘slow’ over rate.
