Rajasthan Royals (RR) with a score of 144 runs for the loss of 8 wickets defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) who made 115 runs. They were defeated by 29 runs.

The ‘big’ batters of the RR team failed in firing and managed only 38 runs combined off 37 balls. Trent Boult walked in at number 8 when there were only 27 balls left of this inning. There was no boundary in a stretch of 43 balls.

Ashwin promoted by the RR team

Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed in the 2nd over of the match and Ashwin was sent. He was sent in as the ‘pinch-hitter’ which seemed to be a logical move. He might not hit out regular boundaries but he definitely is a ‘free-scoring’ timer and is able to find the gaps. He managed 4 boundaries in 2 over’s of Mohammed Siraj. His score before he got out was 17 runs in 9 balls.

Samson, Buttler, Hetmeyer

The very next ball got Jos Buttler walking back to the dressing room. After the many centuries at some time it is ok to get out at a low score.

Wanindu was brought in by Faf du Plessis as soon as Sanju Samson came. Samson managed to loft and punch Hasaranga for a 4 and a 6 in the very first over. He also managed to hit 2 sixes off the spin of Shahbaz Ahmed. Hasaranga was back for the 10th over. This is when he managed to bowl out Samson.

The RR team was in a bit of a mess with 99 runs for the loss of 5 wickets when Daryl Mitchell was holed out in the 15th over, after he had scored 16 runs off 24 balls.

The RR team could manage to add another 75 runs, of which Parag scored 55 runs off 28 balls, with 3 fours and 4 sixes.

Kohli is not in form and this match has clearly proved this. Though he managed to hit a 4 off Trent Boult, but got out to Prasidh Krishna.

Sen-sational

In the 3rd, 4th, 5th and also the 6th over’s, Faf du Plessis managed to hit boundaries, with RCB ending the powerplay with a ‘run’ per ball.

Sen came for the attack and managed to get 2 important wickets. The first one was of Faf du Plessis and the second one was of Maxwell. The RCB team, at this point were 37 runs for the loss of 3 wickets.

The job is complete

In the over’s post-powerplay, there was only a single boundary. Ashwin managed to get the wicket of Rajat Patidar. This got Karthik to the crease. He managed a four and proved that the RCB team was not in a hurry to give up.

With Karthik out, the score was 72 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and the team, now, needed 73 runs off 44 balls. RCB managed to drag the game to the final over and the game was over with Sen getting his 4th wicket.
