LSG vs RCB
50 / 100

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) showcased an impressive display in the IPL 2024 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), with young pacer Mayank Yadav emerging as the standout performer. RCB’s chase of 182 runs faltered as LSG emerged victorious by 28 runs, thanks to Mayank Yadav’s exceptional bowling.

LSG initiated their defense with spin from both ends, effectively stifling RCB’s top order, including Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis. Despite initial resistance, Kohli fell to M Siddharth in the fifth over, while du Plessis was run out off the first ball of the sixth over, bowled by the express pace of Mayank Yadav. The young sensation further stamped his authority by dismissing Glenn Maxwell and rattling Cameron Green’s stumps. Almost claiming a fourth wicket, Mayank posed a continuous threat to RCB, notably challenging Dinesh Karthik. However, Mahipal Lomror’s late blitz, scoring 33 off just 13 balls, offered some resistance before falling to Yash Thakur in the 18th over, effectively ending RCB’s pursuit.

Earlier in the innings, LSG had dominated the RCB bowlers, with Quinton de Kock leading the charge with a splendid 81 off 56 balls. However, a resurgence from RCB in the final overs saw a drop in LSG’s run rate between the 15th and 18th overs. Nicholas Pooran’s quickfire 40 off 21 balls provided some impetus towards the end, guiding LSG to a total of 181/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

In a surprising move, RCB opted to bowl first after winning the toss, opting to drop Vyshak Vijaykumar, much to the astonishment of the spectators and analysts alike.
