BCCI Unveils the Official Schedule for TATA IPL 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced the schedule for the highly anticipated TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The 18th edition of this prestigious cricket tournament is set to begin on March 22, 2025, and will culminate with the grand finale on May 25, 2025.

This season will feature 74 thrilling matches, played across 13 iconic venues. The action-packed schedule includes 12 double-header days, ensuring fans are in for an exhilarating cricketing spectacle. As per tradition, afternoon matches will start at 03:30 PM IST, while the evening encounters will commence at 07:30 PM IST.

Opening Match: A Clash of Titans

The TATA IPL 2025 will kick off with a blockbuster opening match between defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22, 2025. Cricket enthusiasts can expect fireworks right from the start as these two powerhouse teams go head-to-head.

Double-Headers to Watch Out For

The first double-header of the season is scheduled for March 23, 2025. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) in an afternoon clash in Hyderabad. Later in the evening, fans will witness one of the most celebrated rivalries in IPL history as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) lock horns with Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Exciting Matchups in the First Week

The opening week of the tournament promises a series of exciting encounters:

  • March 24, 2025: Delhi Capitals (DC) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) face off in Visakhapatnam.
  • March 25, 2025: Gujarat Titans (GT) host Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the world’s largest cricket stadium, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Home Venues and Team Dynamics

While most teams will stick to their traditional home grounds, three franchises will divide their home matches across two venues:

  • Delhi Capitals (DC): Matches will be played at Visakhapatnam and the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
  • Rajasthan Royals (RR): Two home games will be held in Guwahati, where they will host KKR and CSK. The remaining matches will be played at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
  • Punjab Kings (PBKS): Four home games are scheduled at the New PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, while Dharamsala’s scenic Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium will host three matches against LSG, DC, and MI.

Playoff Venues Confirmed

As the league stage concludes, the focus will shift to the high-stakes Playoff matches. Hyderabad and Kolkata have been selected as the venues for these crucial encounters:

  • Hyderabad: Qualifier 1 and Eliminator on May 20 and May 21, 2025.
  • Kolkata: Qualifier 2 on May 23, 2025.
