LeBron James is closing in on Kareem-Abdul Jabbar’s scoring record, as the LA Lakers star needs just 89 points to become the NBA’s all-time scoring leader. Take a look at the three games in which LeBron is most likely to break the record.

Third most likely game which LeBron James breaks the scoring record: New Orleans Pelicans

The LA Lakers will travel to New Orleans on Saturday to face the Pelicans in the final game of their five-game road trip. In order to break the record this weekend, James will need a big night on Thursday against the Indiana Pacers, however, he is a game-time decision, according to Lakers beat reporter Mike Trudell.

Darvin Ham said Davis will play, and LeBron will go through his pregame routine before a final call is made.He also acknowledged how well Hachimura has played alongside LeBron and AD, and said Beverley – who missed last game – would more likely be at the 2.

While James could certainly erupt for 45 points tonight and follow it up with a 44-point night on Saturday, it is the least likely of the options, particularly considering he may not even suit up tonight.

Second most likely game which LeBron James breaks the scoring record: Milwaukee Bucks

LeBron James and the LA Lakers will return home for a brief two-game home stand that concludes against the Milwaukee Bucks next Thursday. If James sits out one of the next three games or if he fails to average 29.7 points per game over those contests, he will be in line to break the record against Milwaukee.

The Bucks are the franchise that drafted Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and he spent six seasons with the team before spending the final 14 seasons of his career as a Laker.

While James has averaged 30.2 points per game this season, it is plausible that it will take him more than three games to reach 89 points.

The most likely game which LeBron James breaks the scoring record: OKC Thunder

LeBron James is most likely to break the scoring record on Tuesday night in Los Angeles when the Lakers face the OKC Thunder. Assuming James reaches his season average of 30.2 ppg in each of the next three contests, Tuesday night’s game will be a special one as the future Hall of Famer tries to move into first place on the all-time scoring list.

While Thursday night’s contest currently has better odds, according to FanDuel Sportsbook, James will face two struggling defenses, the Pacers and Thunder, and one middling defense, the Pelicans, over his next three games. Furthermore, if he is approaching the record in Tuesday’s contest, his teammates will likely look to get him shots as the building becomes electric.
