Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has always been different, and the way he lives his life isn’t for some people. He takes pride in being different, and no more so than when he revealed he took the plant-based psychedelic Ayahuasca.
After enjoying back-to-back MVP seasons while using Ayahuasca, Rodgers has now revealed that it also helps him deal with the idea of death. After a question centered around whether he was worried about death from a long-time friend and former Packers linebacker, A.J. Hawk, Rodgers revealed it all.
In his weekly spot on the Pat McAfee Show, Rodgers turned back the clock to give an insight into his mindset of Y2K when the world was thought to be ending.
Rodgers said:
“I had a major fear of death. I don’t know if any of you guys felt this way, but kind of our age group. But there was maybe just the way I grew up, but there was a lot of weird sentiment around y2k. Remember that the world was gonna end? You know, and for me personally, since I was like a young teenager, I was like, man, if the world ends and I’m 16 like I’m not going to be able to accomplish anything I want to accomplish.”
He added:
“I’m not going to the NFL. I’m not gonna go to college. I’m not going to you know, meet a woman who falls in love, have kids, have family things that I think there was like this weird ingrained, like fear of like 2000 and fear of like a world-ending and death.”
“I think we all struggle with mortality, and with the idea of mortality, especially, you know, H [AJ Hawk] you got all those kids running around and once you kids grew up and have you know, walk your dog daughter down the aisle and see your boys grow up and have a great high school career in Centreville. So yeah, I definitely had a fear of death.”
That fear was real for millions of people around the world. Thankfully, nothing happened and we all continued on with our lives. But, as Rodgers said, he did feel the fear of death at the time.

Green Bay’s season is on life support, but for many, it’s dead already. Sitting at 5-8 for the season, the Packers will have to win-out and hope results go their way for any chance of a playoff berth.
After the season’s struggles, many think the loss of Davante Adams has been the catalyst for the decline. They may be right.
While their season isn’t technically “dead,” a loss to the L.A. Rams would all but put the final nail in the coffin of season 2022.
