Kyrie Irving has been on a rollercoaster ride this season. He was recently involved in an anti-Semitic issue, which somewhat tainted his name as an NBA superstar. Now receiving a lot of backlash from the media, fans, and other players, Irving has had a sequence of domino effects. To add a nail to the coffin, his signature Kyrie shoe collection with Nike has also been discontinued.

Because of his actions, there were rumors in early November that the Brooklyn Nets wanted to trade Kyrie Irving. Sources mentioned that despite the organization’s efforts to send him someplace else, no other team wanted to involve themselves with the polarizing point guard. To make things worse, Irving was also suspended indefinitely. It seemed like he was never going to return to the court.

Without question, it’s been a stressful series of events for “Uncle Drew.” Luckily, his suspension has been lifted, and he is consistently playing well despite everything that’s been going on in his life recently. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if Brooklyn decides to part ways with Irving soon. After all, he isn’t the best person to represent a brand at the moment.

The question now is, which team could Kyrie Irving possibly be traded to in the near future?

3 potential teams Kyrie Irving could suit up for

#1 LA Lakers

Reports in the past have suggested that the LA Lakers have always been interested in acquiring Kyrie Irving. In fact, there was a point when LA fans were convinced Irving would sign with the Lakers instead of re-signing with the Brooklyn Nets. Unfortunately, it never happened. But that doesn’t mean it’s no longer a possibility.

If the Lakers still desire to trade Russell Westbrook, they should at least trade him for a better point guard. Kyrie just so happens to fit that bill. “Uncle Drew” is still on top of his game, even at the age of 30. He’s statistically playing better than Westbrook and has excellent chemistry with his former co-champion, LeBron James.

#2 Boston Celtics

Ever since Kyrie Irving left the Boston Celtics, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and the rest of the young core have begun to flourish. The Celtics are currently the favored team to win the championship this season. They nearly won it all last season after making a Finals appearance. However, if they fall short again this year, they might need a boost in power.

Now playing in his 12th season, Irving is already considered a veteran in the NBA. “Uncle Drew” no longer needs to be the star of the Celtics. Instead, he can act like the young team’s veteran and mentor to help guide them to their first championship victory since 2008.

#3 New Orleans Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans are surprisingly dominating the Western Conference this season despite not having Brandon Ingram in their lineup. Zion Williamson has been in charge since his return and Ingram’s absence. While they may be a strong team in the regular season, it’s uncertain how successful they will be in the post-season.

As of the moment, CJ McCollum is the primary ball handler in the squad. McCollum is undeniably a great guard, yet the Pelicans might want to upgrade if they wish to finally contend for the title. Kyrie Irving can definitely help Ingram and Williamson boost their numbers with his incredible playmaking abilities. Plus, Irving can contribute to scoring as well.
