Dillon Danis is allegedly going to make more money fighting KSI than any other active UFC champion.
Danis is making his combat sports return against the famous YouTuber on January 14. The 29-year-old former Bellator fighter joined Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour to promote his upcoming boxing fight. During the interview, Helwani questioned ‘El Jefe’ for talking trash to other fighters while injured. He responded by saying:
“I’m still the most relevant, 2-0, and I’m about to make the biggest bag out of anybody in MMA… I’ll tell you, I’m making more than any UFC champion right now. Izzy [Adesanya] is not a champion anymore. Conor [McGregor] is not. I’m telling you, I make more than any of them.”
Before getting injured, Danis was 2-0 in Bellator, both first-round finishes, with his last fight coming in June 2019. ‘El Jefe’ is now making his pro boxing debut, while Olajide Olatunji, a.k.a. KSI, has competed in one pro bout and four amateur/exhibitions. The six-round fight will headline MF x DAZN X Series 4 at the OVO Arena in London, England.

Dillon Danis details what has led to his inactivity
Dillon Danis has done a phenomenal job staying relevant since fighting in 2019. Although most MMA fans knew Danis had knee surgery, it was unclear why he was inactive for three years. During the same interview with Ariel Helwani, Danis explained what has kept him from fighting by saying:
“I had a bad knee injury… I had the knee surgery at HSS… My graph failed, like completely failed. So, I had to get another surgery, which is another year. Basically two surgeries within a year. They said it was like being in two car accidents. My knee was like completely f***ed… It’s not like I don’t want to fight. That’s the stupidest thing ever. Why wouldn’t I wanna fight?
Danis has made plenty of enemies since 2019. He used to be seen as a rising MMA prospect known for being Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach. Most people now know ‘El Jefe’ as an internet troll. He can flip the script by beating KSI on January 14.
